Black Monday

A genetically engineered microbe - an oil eater - has been inserted into the world's petroleum supply and stops it dead. Planes fall from the sky. Cars stop in their tracks. Food can't be delivered. Governments fall and neighbors fight neighbors for heating oil and food. On Marion Street in Washington, DC, a group of neighbors must survive and protect each other as one of them - a Centers for Disease Control Microbe Hunter - thinks he may be able to track the source of the infection. No one listens to him. If the oil bug isn't killed, soon the collapse will reach the point of no return. (written under the name of R. Scott Reiss)
